Detail from the cover of Border Management Magazine, Issue 1.

The inaugural issue of Border Management Magazine was released on the Border Management website in the early evening of Friday March 8th (GMT), featuring articles by several internationally eminent commentators in the areas of border management, border security and immigration.

Acknowledging the magazine’s contributors, Chief Editor Nicholas Dynon stated that he looked forward to the magazine providing a platform for ‘blue sky’ thinking; “a space where government, industry and academia can engage, debate, and showcase, and ultimately experiment with… ‘the art of the possible’.”

Border Management will provide international news and analysis to the global community of border management professionals and to those in the allied sectors of border, maritime and aviation security, airport management, biometrics and identity management, travel document production, and migration and visa policy and processing..

Contributors to the inaugural issue included Tony Smith CBE (Chair of IBMATA), Philip Wood MBE (Head of the School of Aviation and Security at Buckinghamshire New University), Abul Rizvi PSM (former Deputy Secretary of the Australian Department of Immigration), and Marie McAuliffe (Head of IOM Migration Policy, Research Division), among others.

The magazine is published by New Zealand-based Defsec Media, an independent publisher that also produces a number of magazines for New Zealand’s defence and security sectors. Border Management will be published online on a quarterly basis, with its second instalment to be released in early June.
